Our
Story

Since 2013, Elevé Dance Theater has been revolutionizing BIPOC representation within dance, and empowering them through the art of movement. Based in the Poconos and servicing the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York areas, Elevé aims to provide a dedicated sanctuary for young aspiring dancers to receive comprehensive technical training across various styles. Led by former dancer and now Artistic Director, Deidre Sears, Elevé Dance Theater is designed to provide a nurturing ground for aspiring dancers, offering them unparalleled opportunities and exposure.

Elevé offers educational community programming along with chances to participate in prestigious dance intensives at programs such as the Ailey School and Debbie Allen Dance Academy. Notably, Elevé Dance Theater alumni have achieved remarkable success, gaining acceptance into over 30 collegiate dance programs, including prestigious institutions such as the University of the Arts and Butler University. Beyond academia, graduates have launched professional careers in dance and graced national stages performing alongside global artists like Madonna and Chris Brown. In addition to high level performance opportunities, Elevé has welcomed industry luminaries, including Bankhead, Ebony Williams, and Sheila Barker, among others, enriching the students with diverse perspectives and insights. Dedicated to the art of dance and community service, Elevé Dance Theater remains committed to empowering young dancers, fostering a lifelong love for the art of dance.

As Sears continues to expand Elevé’s national reach through The Elevé Dance Theater Foundation (501-c3),  she aims to provide broader access to dance via scholarships, mentorships, and community performances.
