Deidre Sears, Founder and Artistic Director of Eleve Dance Theater, has etched her indelible mark through a lifelong journey dedicated to the art of movement. Her remarkable career began at the age of 7 under the tutelage of Crystal Newby-Reynolds at the Arts Conservatory, Inc., where she laid the foundation for her dance expertise. Her ballet and modern training were further honed under the guidance of teaching artists from prestigious institutions such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, Garden State Ballet, and Newark's Gallman Dance Theater.
While pursuing her B.S. in Communication Arts at St. John's University, Deidre concurrently flourished as a principal dancer with Vissi Dance Theater under the direction of Courtney Ffrench. Her performances graced the hallowed stages of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and City Center, solidifying her presence as a distinguished force in the dance community.
In October 2013, driven by a profound mission, Deidre founded Eleve Dance Theater—a sanctuary dedicated to providing a secure space for youth to receive comprehensive technical training across various dance styles. Since its inception, Eleve Dance Theater has become a nurturing ground for aspiring dancers, offering them unparalleled opportunities and exposure.
Under Deidre's visionary leadership, Eleve Dance Theater has cultivated a legacy of excellence. Students have had the privilege of performing nationwide, participating in dance intensives at renowned institutions like the Ailey School and Debbie Allen Dance Academy. The dance program has welcomed industry luminaries, including Bankhead, Ebony Williams, Shelia Barker, and many others, enriching the students with diverse perspectives and insights.
Notably, Eleve Dance Theater alumni have achieved remarkable success, with acceptances into over 30 collegiate dance programs, including prestigious institutions such as the University of the Arts and Butler University. Beyond academia, Eleve Dance Theater graduates have graced global stages, performing and touring with iconic artists like Madonna and Chris Brown.
With an unwavering love and passion for dance that spans over three decades, Deidre Sears continues serving New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania communities. For the last 20 years, she has been a beacon of inspiration, shaping the next generation of dancers and fostering an enduring legacy through Eleve Dance Theater.
