BIOGRAPHY

Deidre Sears

Founder, Artistic Director

Deidre Sears, as Artistic Director and Founder of Elevé Dance Theater, loves to share her passion and talent in the arts with the youth. She founded Elevé Dance Theater out of the pursuit to allow the arts to empower people and communities. Since founding Elevé Dance Theater in 2013, have created Outreach Programs for the public schools in the East Stroudsburg, churches in Monroe County, and organizations in New York and New Jersey. Deidre advocates the importance of the performing arts in helping youth with 

self-esteem, self image and self discipline. She is the proud teacher of many talented students, who have continued on in their careers as dancers. 

 

Deidre received her training under the direction of Crystal Newby- Reynolds at the YWCA Youth Dance Academy and the Arts Conservatory, Inc. She has received Ballet and Modern Dance training under teaching artists from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, the Garden State Ballet and Newark’s Gallman Dance Theater. She was also a scholarship recipient of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Summer Youth Performance Workshop which led to an opportunity to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with Camp Broadway.

 

While obtaining her B.S in Communication Arts at St. John’s University in Queens, NY, Deidre was a Principal Dancer with Vissi Dance Theater (NY, NY) under the Artistic Direction of Courtney Ffrench. She has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and City Center and opened for mainstream artists such as Ne-Yo, Keyshia Cole and N.E.R.D.

 

Deidre is currently pursing her Performing Arts Administration Certification at NYU School of Professional Studies. Giving back to the community and inspiring the youth through the arts has always been in the forefront with Deidre Sears.
